Before Sleep
What the Prophet ﷺ said as he lay down, entrusting his soul to the One who gives it back each morning.
1.Ayat al-Kursi
Allah, there is no god but Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all that exists. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who could intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what lies before them and what lies behind them, and they grasp nothing of His knowledge except what He wills. His Throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and guarding them does not tire Him. He is the Most High, the Most Great.
Recited last thing before sleeping
2.Surah al-Ikhlas
Say: He is Allah, the One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge, upon whom all depend. He does not give birth, nor was He born, and there is none comparable to Him.
Blown into the hands and wiped over the body
3.Surah al-Falaq
Say: I take refuge with the Lord of the daybreak, from the evil of what He has created, from the evil of darkness when it settles, from the evil of those who blow on knots, and from the evil of an envier when he envies.
Blown into the hands and wiped over the body
4.Surah an-Nas
Say: I take refuge with the Lord of mankind, the King of mankind, the God of mankind, from the evil of the sneaking whisperer, who whispers into the hearts of mankind, from among the jinn and mankind.
Blown into the hands and wiped over the body
5.In Your Name, O Allah, I Die and I Live
In Your name, O Allah, I die and I live.
6.O Allah, Shield Me From Your Punishment
O Allah, shield me from Your punishment on the Day You raise Your servants.
Three times
7.O Allah, I Submit Myself to You
O Allah, I submit myself to You, I entrust my affair to You, I turn my face to You, and I lean my back on You, out of hope in You and fear of You. There is no refuge and no escape from You except to You. I believe in Your Book which You sent down and in Your Prophet whom You sent.
8.The Tasbih of Fatimah Before Sleep
Glory be to Allah. All praise is for Allah. Allah is the Greatest.
