The Tasbih of Fatimah Before Sleep

Say 33 times

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ، وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ

Subhanallah, wal-hamdu lillah, wallahu akbar.

Glory be to Allah. All praise is for Allah. Allah is the Greatest.

What it means

When Fatimah, the daughter of the Prophet ﷺ, asked her father for a servant because the housework had worn out her hands, he gave her this instead. It is a striking answer: the help he offered was strength from Allah rather than an extra pair of hands, and the same trade is offered to anyone exhausted at the end of a long day.

When and how

As you lie down, say Subhanallah thirty three times, Alhamdulillah thirty three times, and Allahu akbar thirty four times.

Its virtue

The Prophet ﷺ said it was better for her than a servant, reported in Sahih al-Bukhari 3705.
