The Ibrahimiyyah Salawat

O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim. You are indeed Praiseworthy and Glorious. O Allah, send favour upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent favour upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim. You are indeed Praiseworthy and Glorious.

What it means

This is the form the Companions were given when they asked how to send blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ, having already been taught how to greet him. Sending salah upon him means asking Allah to raise his mention and praise him among the highest company, and barakah means asking for that honour to keep growing. It is the only salawat that every Muslim says at least five times a day.

When and how

Say it in the final sitting of every prayer after the tashahhud. It is also the best wording to use at any other time.

Its virtue

The Prophet ﷺ said that whoever sends blessings upon him once, Allah sends blessings upon him ten times in return, reported in Sahih Muslim 408. This wording is the one he taught when the Companions asked how to do it, reported in Sahih al-Bukhari 3370.
