After Eating

All praise is for Allah who fed me this and provided it for me without any power or strength on my part.

What it means

The dua makes a quiet point: you may have paid for the meal and cooked it, but the rain, the soil, the health to work and the appetite to eat were not your doing. Saying this after eating is a small correction to the feeling that we feed ourselves.

When and how

Say it once when you finish a meal, before you get up.

Its virtue

The Prophet ﷺ said that whoever eats food and then says these words will have his past sins forgiven, reported in Jami at-Tirmidhi 3458.
