Leaving the Bathroom
غُفْرَانَكَ
Ghufranak.
I ask for Your forgiveness.
What it means
One word. Scholars have explained it in a beautiful way: your body has just been relieved of what would have harmed it, and the natural response is to ask that your soul be relieved of its burden too. It is also an apology for the minutes you spent unable to remember Allah.
When and how
Say it as you step out, leading with the right foot.
Its virtue
The Prophet ﷺ would say it when he came out of the toilet, reported in Sunan Abi Dawud 30 and Jami at-Tirmidhi 7.
