I Take Refuge in the Perfect Words of Allah
Say 3 times
أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
A'udhu bi-kalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq.
I take refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.
What it means
Allah's words are described as perfect because nothing in them falls short and nothing can override them. Taking refuge in them means placing yourself behind a barrier that no created thing can cross without His permission.
When and how
Say it three times in the evening, and once when you stop anywhere on a journey, including a hotel room or a rest stop.
Its virtue
The Prophet ﷺ said that whoever stops somewhere and says these words, nothing will harm him until he moves on from that place, reported in Sahih Muslim 2709.
