O Allah, Lord of the People, Remove the Harm

Allahumma rabban-nas, adhhibil-ba's, ishfi antash-shafi, la shifa'a illa shifa'uk, shifa'an la yughadiru saqama.

O Allah, Lord of the people, remove the harm. Cure, for You are the Healer. There is no cure but Your cure, a cure that leaves behind no illness.

What it means

The Prophet ﷺ would say this while wiping the sick person with his right hand. The last phrase asks for a complete cure with nothing left behind, which is a mercy for anyone who has recovered from something but never quite returned to normal. Medicine is a means; the healing itself is from Allah.

When and how

Say it while placing your right hand on the person, or say it for yourself when you are ill.

Its virtue

The Prophet ﷺ used to say this when visiting the sick among his family, reported in Sahih al-Bukhari 5675 and Sahih Muslim 2191.
